Split Pea Soup

Ingredients
- 1 lb. green split peas
- 1 meaty ham bone, or 1 c. finely chopped ham
- 1 1/2 c. diced onion
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 tsp. marjoram
- 1/4 tsp. cumin
- 1 c. finely diced celery
- 1 c. finely diced carrots
- 2 qt. cold water
Directions

1Soak peas in water overnight, or simmer 2 minutes and let soak 1 hour.

2Add ham, onion and seasoning.

3Bring to a boil.

4Reduce heat and simmer 1 1/2 hours.

5Add vegetables and simmer 40 minutes.

6If too thick, add more water.
