- 2 c. cornmesh (white or yellow)
- 1 c. whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 3/4 c. molasses
- 2 c. milk
Directions

1Mix the dry ingredients in a good sized bowl.

2Beat in the molasses and milk quickly for 2 minutes.

3Grease a 1 pound coffee can and place wax paper around sides and bottom.

4Fill 2/3 full with mixture.

5Place foil over top and place in a covered kettle. Add water around the sides of the can.

6Cover and steam for about 2 hours or until done.

7Replenish water when necessary.

8Serve sliced, hot and buttered.

9Yields 1 loaf.
