Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 vanilla bean, cut in half and seeds scraped out
  • 1/2 cup Kirschwasser
  • 1 pound cherries
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water

Directions

    Combine cherries, sugar, lemon juice, vanilla bean and seeds in a sauce pan and bring to simmer until sugar melted, then cook covered for an additional 10 minutes.

    Add kirschwasser, stir and light repeatedly until flames no longer burn.

    Add water to cornstarch and mix to form a thick paste then add to cherries and stir till mixed well.
