Strawberry Pie

- 1 deep-dish baked pie shell
- 6 c. fresh strawberries
- 1 c. water
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
Directions

1Bake and cook pie shell.

2Wash berries; remove hulls.

3Crush 1 cup of berries and cook with the 1 cup water for 2 minutes. Drain well with sieve; reserve juice.

4Add water if needed to make 1 1/4 cups juice.

5Discard cooked berries.

6In saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch; stir in berry juice.

7Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened and clear.

8Spread a small amount of the glaze mixture (about 1/4 cup) on bottom and sides of pie shell.

9Fill pie shell with remaining berries, stem end down. Spoon glaze on all berries.

10Chill 3 to 4 hours.

11Garnish with whipped cream.
