- 3/4 c. sugar
- pinch of salt
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch (level)
- 1 c. water
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 2 to 3 drops red food coloring
- 1 qt. strawberries
- 1 (9-inch) baked pie shell
- whipped topping
Directions

1Stir together sugar, salt and cornstarch in saucepan.

2Add water.

3Stir until smooth.

4Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil until it thickens.

5Add vanilla, butter and food coloring. Cool by stirring.

6Drain strawberries and add to sauce.

7Pour into pie shell and top with whipped topping.
