Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/4 lb. ground pork
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 3/4 c. cooked rice
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 12 large cabbage leaves
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar

Directions

    Combine meat, salt, pepper, rice, onion and 1 can tomato sauce.

    Cover cabbage leaves with boiling water for 4 minutes; drain.

    Place portion of meat mixture in center of each cabbage leaf.

    Roll up, folding over ends.

    Place side seam down in skillet.

    Mix remaining tomato sauce with brown sugar and pour over rolls.

    Simmer, covered, 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

    Baste often. Serves 6.
