  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • dash of pepper
  • 2 lb. round steak, cut 1-inch thick
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 (4 oz.) can mushroom pieces
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 green pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 c. tomato (canned or fresh)

Directions

    Combine flour with salt and pepper and pound into meat.

    In preheated skillet at 325°, melt shortening.

    Brown meat on both sides.

    Add remaining ingredients.

    Reduce heat to 225°.

    Cook, uncovered, for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

    Serve with vegetable gravy. Makes 6 servings.
