  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix
  • 1 pkg. caramels
  • 1/2 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 c. chocolate chips
  • 2 c. nuts
  • 3/4 c. melted butter or margarine

    Prepare cake according to package directions.

    Pour 1/2 the batter into greased 9 x 13-inch pan.

    Bake 15 minutes at 350°. Melt caramels with milk and butter over low heat.

    After baking the cake, pour caramel mixture over cake.

    Sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts.

    Pour remaining 1/2 batter over this.

    Sprinkle with any remaining nuts and bake at 350° for 20 minutes.

    Remove from oven and cool.
