- 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1/4 c. butter or margarine
- 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 c. milk
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. garlic salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 3 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen English peas, partially thawed
- 1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
Directions

1Brown ground beef in a large skillet, stirring to crumble. Drain and set aside.

2Melt butter in a heavy saucepan over low heat.

3Add flour, stirring until smooth.

4Gradually add milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture is thickened and bubbly.

5Stir in salt and pepper.

6Set sauce aside. Layer half of the beef, potatoes, onions, peas and sauce in a lightly greased 2 1/2-quart casserole dish.

7Repeat layers, ending with sauce.

8Cover and bake at 375° for 50 minutes.

9Sprinkle with cheese and bake, uncovered, for an additional 5 minutes.
