Washboard Cookies

Directions

   Cream together butter, brown sugar and egg.

   Stir together baking soda and water.

   Add to creamed mixture.

   Add flour and mix well.

   Shape into small balls.

   Place on greased cookie sheet; flatten with forks dipped in sugar.

   Bake at 325° for 15 to 20 minutes or until edges begin to brown.

   Yields 3 1/2 dozen.
