  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Directions

    Combine first 5 ingredients; stir well. Add egg and buttermilk; mix well. Stir in raisins and pecans. Spoon into a greased and floured 8- x 4- x 3- inch loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 55 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan and cool completely.
