Ingredients
- 1/2 c. solid vegetable shortening
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 4 c. (approximately 1 lb.) sifted confectioners sugar
- 2 Tbsp. milk
Directions

1Cream the butter and shortening with electric mixer.

2Add vanilla.

3Gradually add sugar, one cup at a time, beating well on medium speed.

4Scrape sides and bottom of bowl often.

5When all sugar has been mixed in, icing will appear dry.

6Add milk and beat at high speed until light and fluffy.

7Keep covered with damp cloth until ready to use.

8Refrigerate when not in use.

9Keeps for up to 2 weeks in airtight container.

10Rewhip before using.

11I double this for large cakes.
