- 2 pkg. active dry yeast
- 2/3 c. sugar, divided
- 1 c. warm water
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. margarine, softened
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. boiling water
- 2 c. eggs, beaten
- 6 to 7 c. all-purpose flour, divided
Directions

1Dissolve yeast and 1 teaspoon sugar in 1 cup warm water; let sit about 5 minutes.

2Combine remaining sugar, salt, margarine and shortening in a large bowl; add boiling water, stirring until margarine and shortening melt.

3Cool slightly.

4Add dissolved yeast, stirring well.

5Add eggs and 3 cups flour, beating until smooth.

6Gradually stir in enough remaining flour to make a stiff dough; put in a well-greased bowl, turning to grease top of dough.
