- 1 cake yeast
- 5 c. plain flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 2 Tbsp. lukewarm water
- 1 tsp. soda
- 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 c. shortening
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.

2Into a bowl sift flour with other dry ingredients.

3Cut in shortening.

4Add buttermilk and then yeast mixture.

5Stir until flour is dampened.

6Knead on flour for a minute or two.

7Roll out to 1/2 inch thick.

8Cut with biscuit cutter.

9Bake at 400° about 12 to 15 minutes.

10This dough may be stored in refrigerator.
