  • 4 c. sliced, pared apples
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/3 c. soft butter

    Heat oven to 350°.

    Spread apples evenly in an 8 x 8-inch square or 9-inch round baking dish/pan.

    Sprinkle with water, cinnamon and salt mixture.

    Toss lightly.

    Mix sugar, flour and butter with a pastry blender until crumbly.

    Spread over apples. Bake at 350°, uncovered, about 40 minutes.

    Serve warm with milk, cream or ice cream.
