Applesauce Bread Pudding

- 6 slices bread, cubed
- 2 c. applesauce
- 1/2 c. raisins
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp. freshly grated nutmeg
- 3 Tbsp. unsalted butter
- 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 c. milk
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- dash of salt
- ground cinnamon
Directions

1In a well-buttered square baking dish, layer half of the bread cubes.

2Combine the applesauce with the cinnamon and nutmeg and spread over the bread.

3Scatter raisins over the applesauce mixture.

4Top with remaining bread pieces.

5Dot with butter.

6Beat together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and salt.

7Pour evenly all over bread and applesauce.

8Top with more cinnamon.

9Bake uncovered at 350° for 1 hour or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
