- 1 bag pea beans
- 1 Tbsp. baking soda
- 1/4 lb. bacon pieces
- 16 oz. can tomatoes
- 1/3 c. diced carrots
- 3/4 c. diced celery
- 3/4 c. diced onions
- 1 c. diced potatoes
- black pepper, to taste
- garlic powder, to taste
- 1/8 tsp. parsley
- 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 6 Tbsp. flour
- 1 c. cold water
Directions

1Add pea beans into large kettle.

2Add 1 gallon water and bring to a boil.

3Add 1 tablespoon baking soda and bring to boil.

4Drain and rinse with water.

5Put beans into large kettle and add bacon, tomatoes, carrots, celery, onions, potatoes, pepper and garlic. Cook until vegetables are tender.

6Add cornstarch and flour to water.

7Mix until smooth.

8Add to soup until thickened to desired consistency.
