- 3 c. milk (2 1/4 c. hot, 3/4 c. cold)
- 4 Tbsp. sugar (2 Tbsp. with cornstarch, 2 Tbsp. with egg)
- 1/3 c. cornstarch
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Scald 2 1/4 cups of milk.

2Combine and blend well 3/4 cup milk, 2 tablespoons sugar and cornstarch.

3Add to hot milk.

4Stir and cook over low heat (or double boiler) until thickened.

5Beat egg with rest of sugar.

6Pour some hot mixture into egg and then back into hot liquid.

7Stir until it thickens.

8Cool; add vanilla. Chill.

9Can serve with crushed fruit, chocolate, melted chocolate, brown sugar for butterscotch.
