Butterscotch Brownies

  • 2 (6 oz.) pkg. butterscotch morsels
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 c. light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 c. chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts or mixed)

    Melt butterscotch bits with butter over hot (not boiling) water.

    Remove from heat.

    Beat eggs with sugar in large bowl until light and fluffy.

    Stir in flour, salt and baking powder; beat until blended.

    Add melted butterscotch mixture, then stir in nuts.

    Pour into lightly greased 15 x 10 x 1-inch jelly roll pan and bake at 350° for 25 minutes.

    Cool and cut into squares or bars.
