Charleston Grits

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 c. boiling water
  • 1/2 c. quick cooking hominy grits
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 stick butter (margarine)
  • 1 roll garlic cheese (this is hard to find, I use American cheese and garlic powder, however much you wish to use)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. milk

Directions

    Cook grits in boiling water; add salt and margarine.
  2. 2
    Add cheese (cheese and garlic) and stir together until cheese melts. Beat egg in milk and add to grits.

    Pour into buttered baking dish.

    Dash with Tabasco sauce.
  5. 5
    Sprinkle with crushed cornflakes. Bake at 400° until brown.
