- 4 c. rapidly boiling water, seasoned with a heaping tsp. salt
- 1 small chopped onion
- 1 c. grits (preferably coarse ground grits)
- 1 stick butter
- 2 cloves fresh ground garlic
- 1/2 lb. sharp, yellow cheese
- 4 well beaten eggs
- milk
Directions

1In boiling water, add onion and grits.

2Cook for 30 minutes. In a separate pan, melt together butter, garlic and cheese.

3To this, add

4eggs and enough milk to make one cup of liquid.

5Stir the liquid briskly into the grits; pour the grits into a buttered casserole dish and bake for 30 minutes or so at 350°.

6The end product will make you warble like a fat canary!
