- 1 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. broken walnuts
- 1/2 c. saltine crackers
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 can (1 lb. 4 oz.) cherry pie filling
- 3 Tbsp. rum or orange flavored liqueur
- 1 c. whipping cream
Directions

1Beat egg whites with vanilla and salt until foamy.

2Gradually beat in sugar, beating to stiff peaks.

3Combine nuts, cracker crumbs and baking powder, folding into the beaten whites.

4Spread mixture in well-greased 9-inch pie plate, building up sides.

5Bake at 300° for 40 minutes or until the meringue shell is dry on the outside.

6Cool.
