- 1 1/2 c. self-rising corn meal
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp. Crisco or shortening
- 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Heat oven to 450°.

2Melt shortening in iron skillet.

3Mix corn meal, flour, egg and buttermilk.

4Stir in melted shortening.

5Pour mixture into hot skillet where shortening was melted.

6Bake in oven for 30 to 35 minutes until top is brown and sides pull away from pan.
