Ingredients

  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 1/2 tsp. salt (if using salted butter or margarine, omit salt)
  • 1 c. flour, sifted (all-purpose)
  • 4 eggs (unbeaten)
  • 1 pkg. vanilla or chocolate pudding and pie filling mix
  • 1/2 c. heavy whipping cream
  • 1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate pieces
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening

Directions

    Preheat oven to 400°.

    In large saucepan, combine water with butter and salt.

    Heat over medium heat, until butter melts and water boils.

    Turn heat low; add flour all at once and beat mixture thoroughly with a wooden spoon until it leaves the sides of the pan in a smooth compact ball.

    Immediately remove pan from heat.

    With a wooden spoon or portable mixer at medium speed, beat in eggs, one at a time, beating until smooth after each egg.

    When all eggs are blended, beat dough until very smooth and satiny.
