  • 5 c. sugar
  • 2 c. milk (Pet cream)
  • 1 lb. dates, cut in pieces
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. chopped pecans
  • cherries (if desired), cut in half

Directions

    Combine sugar, cream and dates, stirring constantly. Cook to the soft ball stage, 236°.

    Add butter and allow to cool until lukewarm. Add vanilla and nuts.

    Stir (smooth) until creamy. Pour on a damp towel and mold into a roll about 2-inches.

    When cold, remove towel. Roll in powdered sugar.

    Slice with a sharp knife.
