- 1 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. melted butter
- 1/2 c. nut meats, broken
- 2 c. dates, pitted and finely cut
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 1 Tbsp. hot water
Directions

1Sift flour once; add baking powder and salt gradually to eggs; add butter.

2Beat in dates and nuts.

3Add flour alternately with hot water, beating well.

4Divide mixture into two greased pans, 8 x 8 x 2-inches, spreading batter thin.

5Bake in slow oven, 325°, for 30 to 35 minutes.

6Cool; cut in strips, 2 3/4 x 1-inch. Remove from pans and roll in powdered sugar.

7Makes about 48.
