  • 1 c. sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. melted butter
  • 1/2 c. nut meats, broken
  • 2 c. dates, pitted and finely cut
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 1 Tbsp. hot water

Directions

    Sift flour once; add baking powder and salt gradually to eggs; add butter.

    Beat in dates and nuts.

    Add flour alternately with hot water, beating well.

    Divide mixture into two greased pans, 8 x 8 x 2-inches, spreading batter thin.

    Bake in slow oven, 325°, for 30 to 35 minutes.

    Cool; cut in strips, 2 3/4 x 1-inch. Remove from pans and roll in powdered sugar.
