Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. quick cook oatmeal
  • 1/2 c. margarine
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 1 c. brown sugar (not packed)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. sifted self-rising flour
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 heaping Tbsp. cocoa (if your family likes more chocolate taste, add more cocoa)

Directions

    Pour boiling water over oats; cover and let set 10 minutes. Cream butter, 2 eggs and vanilla; add oatmeal mixture.

    Mix well. Add dry ingredients.

    Mix well.

    Pour into a 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.
