- 200 grams all-purpose flour
- 50 grams caster sugar
- 50 grams butter, slightly softened
- 75 ml milk
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 small egg
Directions

1Mix the flour, sugar, salt and baking powder.

2Rub in butter with fingertips until it resembles breadcrumbs.

3Add in milk and raisins (if using) and knead gently to make a rough dough.

4Turn the dough out on counter, lightly dusted with flour, and knead until smooth.

5Add milk if dough is too dry, and flour if otherwise.

6Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1 cm, and cut out round shapes with a small glass or cookie cutter.

7You can also shape the dough with your hands.

8Brush the tops with egg and milk mixture.

9Place on cookie sheets with spaces between and bake in preheated oven at 190C for about 13 minutes or until slightly golden brown.

10Serve warm with honey or jam.
