Ingredients
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. butter
- 1 Tbsp. orange juice
- 2 tsp. rum extract
- 1 c. milk, scalded
- 3 1/2 to 4 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- fat for deep frying heated to 375~
- jam or jelly
Directions

1Soften yeast in warm water.

2Put 1/2 cup sugar, salt, butter, orange juice and rum extract into a large bowl.

3Pour scalded milk over ingredients in bowl.

4Stir until butter is melted.

5Cool to lukewarm.

6Blend in 1 cup of the flour and beat until smooth.

7Stir in yeast.

8Add about half of the remaining flour and beat until smooth.

9Beat in eggs, then beat in enough of the remaining flour to make a soft dough.
