  • 12 carrots, peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • 1/4 tsp. dry mustard
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1/4 tsp. celery salt
  • 3 c. buttered bread crumbs or Pepperidge Farm stuffing
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 lb. Cheddar cheese slices

    Cook carrots.

    Saute onion in butter.

    Stir in flour, salt, dry mustard and milk.

    Add pepper and celery salt.

    In 2-quart casserole, arrange layers of carrots and cheese, ending with carrots.

    Pour on sauce.

    Top with crumbs.

    Bake 20 minutes or until hot throughout.
