- 6 eggs
- 1 qt. milk or light cream (half and half)
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3/4 to 1 c. rum, peach brandy or bourbon whiskey (if desired)
- 1 c. heavy whipping cream
- nutmeg
Directions

1Separate the eggs; reserve the whites in a separate bowl. Beat together the 6 egg yolks, milk or light cream, sugar and salt.

2Stir in vanilla and, if desired, rum, peach brandy or bourbon whiskey.

3Chill this mixture for 3 to 4 hours to allow flavors to mellow and blend.

4Then with an electric mixer, whip the reserved egg whites until stiff but not dry.
