Ingredients

  • 2/3 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. butter (1/2 stick)
  • 2 c. warm water
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 1/4 oz. pkg. active dry yeast
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 c. wheat flour

Directions

    Warm milk and butter together.

    In a large bowl, combine the water, sugar, yeast, salt and milk mixture.

    Add the flours. Knead until smooth and elastic, adding as little additional flour as possible.

    Let rise until doubled; punch down.

    Let rise until doubled again.

    Form into 2 loaves and place in greased loaf pans. Bake in a 350° oven for 50 minutes.

    Makes 2 loaves.
