- 1 frying chicken (2 1/2 lb.), cut in pieces
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. basil
- 1/3 c. lemon juice
- 1/4 c. water
- 1 1/2 tsp. lemon peel, grated
- 3 to 4 thin slices lemon (for garnish)
Directions

1Preheat oven to 400°.

2Cut chicken breast in half.

3Sprinkle chicken pieces with salt, pepper and garlic.

4Place pieces in a shallow baking pan with skin side down.

5Combine remaining ingredients, except lemon slices; pour over chicken.

6Bake, uncovered, for 20 minutes.

7Turn chicken and baste with pan drippings.

8Bake for 30 to 40 minutes more, until chicken is tender.

9Serve on platter garnished with lemon slices.
