- 2 cups water
- 2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter or 1/4 cup unsalted margarine
- freshly grated parmesan cheese (optional)
- sour cream (optional)
- cottage cheese (optional)
Directions

1In a saucepan combine water, milk, salt, cornmeal & unsalted butter or margarine.

2Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.

3Cook until butter is melted and mixture is thick, about 15-20 minutes.

4Serve topped with a spoonful of cottage cheese and sour cream.

5Marmaliga can also be served plain with a little sugar or with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
