- 1 1/4 c. (2 1/2 sticks) margarine, softened
- 3/4 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/2 c. self-rising flour
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 3 c. Quaker oats (uncooked)
- 1 to 1 1/2 c. raisins (optional)
Directions

1Beat margarine and sugars until creamy.

2Beat in egg and vanilla.

3Add combined flour and spices; mix well.

4Slowly add oats, then raisins.

5Drop by spoonful on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375° for a chewy cookie, 8 to 9 minutes; for a crisp cookie, 10 to 11 minutes.

6Makes about 4 1/2 dozen.
