Orange Slice Cake

- 1 c. butter
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 box dates, chopped small
- 1 lb. candy orange slices, cut up
- dash of salt
- 2 c. sugar
- 3 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1 can coconut
- 2 c. nuts
Directions

1Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, one at a time.

2Dissolve soda in milk; add flour alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture.

3Roll nuts, candy and dates in extra flour, then add coconut.

4Add to cake batter.

5Bake in tube pan at 250° for 2 1/2 hours.

6Mix 2 cups white sugar, and 1 cup orange juice; pour on cake while hot.

7Store cake in pan overnight.

8Can also bake in loaf pans.
