Peanut Popcorn Balls

Ingredients

  • 1 c. molasses
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. roasted peanuts
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 10 c. popped popcorn, salted

Directions

    Mix sugar, molasses, vinegar and butter in saucepan.

    Cook, stirring, until sugar dissolves.

    Continue to cook without stirring until syrup forms a brittle ball in cold water.

    Remove from heat.

    Add vanilla, stirring only enough to mix it through the hot syrup.

    Have corn and peanuts mixed well in a large bowl. Pour cooked syrup slowly over corn, mixing well.

    Wet hands slightly and shape corn into balls.

    Makes 12 balls.
