Ingredients

  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. nutmeg
  • 1 Tbsp. allspice
  • 1 c. corn oil
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 c. coarsely cut cooked prunes
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Sift flour, salt and spices together and set aside.

    In a large bowl, beat together oil, sugar and eggs; add vanilla.

    Add dry ingredients; add buttermilk, soda, prunes and nuts.

    Pour into ungreased 9-inch tube pan.

    Bake at 350° for 1 hour.

    About 15 minutes before cake is done, prepare glaze. Pour hot glaze immediately over cake in pan.

    When cool, remove.
