Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. boiling water
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. Crisco shortening
- 1 pkg. active dry or compressed yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 1 egg
- 5 to 6 c. plain flour
Directions

1Pour boiling water over sugar, salt and Crisco.

2Stir until Crisco is dissolved and mixture cooled to lukewarm.

3Add yeast, which has been dissolved in lukewarm water, and the egg.

4Mix well. Stir in flour to make soft dough.

5Rub surface with Crisco, cover tightly and store in refrigerator until ready to use.

6Will keep about 1 week.

7When ready to use dough, punch down and roll out on floured board about 1/2-inch thick.

8Cut with biscuit cutter. Brush with butter.

9Place on greased baking sheet.

10Allow to rise about 1 hour.

11Bake at 425° for about 20 minutes.
