Ingredients

  • 2 lb. shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 large green pepper, chopped fine
  • 1 medium onion, chopped fine
  • 2 ribs celery, chopped fine
  • 2 Tbsp. minced parsley
  • 1 large bay leaf
  • 2 c. chopped tomatoes
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. thyme leaves
  • 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 6 drops Tabasco

Directions

    In large heavy skillet melt 2 tablespoons butter over low heat.

    Saute onion until limp but not brown.

    Push onion to one side and add flour, stirring until brown.

    Add all other ingredients except shrimp.

    Stir constantly until mixture thickens and comes to slow boil.

    Lower heat until mixture simmers.

    Cover and continue to cook about 35 minutes.
