  • 2/3 c. oil
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 3/4 c. green onion, chopped
  • 1/2 c. green pepper, chopped
  • 1 c. onion, chopped
  • 1/3 c. celery, chopped
  • 4 tsp. garlic
  • 1/4 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp. mace
  • 1/2 tsp. thyme
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 3 Tbsp. parsley
  • 1/4 tsp. dry basil
  • 4 tsp. fresh lemon juice
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 3/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 4 Tbsp. dry red wine
  • 6 whole allspice
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 4 bay leaves
  • 1 Tbsp. minced dry chives
  • 1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes, drained
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 2 c. water
  • 2 lb. shrimp

Directions

    Make a paste with the oil and flour in a pot.

    Add the rest of the ingredients, except the shrimp.

    Simmer for about an hour.

    Add the shrimp and simmer until shrimp are done.
