  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef, browned and drained
  • 1 qt. tomatoes, diced
  • 15 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. sweet basil
  • 1 minced garlic clove
  • 1 tsp. hot Mexican chili powder
  • 8 oz. spaghetti, cooked and drained (do not rinse)
  • 4 oz. mushrooms
  • 8 oz. Mozzarella cheese
  • Parmesan cheese

Directions

    Mix ground beef, tomatoes, tomato sauce, onion, sugar, salt, oregano, basil, garlic and chili powder; simmer 30 minutes.

    Cook and drain spaghetti (do not rinse).

    Add to meat mixture and add mushrooms.

    Put 1/2 mixture in 9 x 13-inch pan.

    Top with Mozzarella cheese.

    Add remainder of meat mixture.

    Top with Parmesan cheese.

    Bake at 350° for 30 minutes, covering the first 20 minutes.
