Split Pea Soup

  • 2 cups dried split peas
  • 2 carrots, chopped small
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 2 quarts water
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley (or a handful fresh)
  • 1 pinch marjoram (optional)
  • 1 pinch herb salt and pepper
  • 14-12 cup butter
  • 1 vegetable bouillon cube (optional)
  • 1 pinch nutmeg (optional)

Directions

    In a soup pot, place split peas with water and start cooking for about one half hour.

    Then add vegetables and cook 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until split peas dissolve.

    Add herb salt, pepper, and butter.

    Serve when butter is dissolved.

    If desired, sprinkle nutmeg on top.
