Ingredients
- 2 cups dried split peas
- 2 carrots, chopped small
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 2 quarts water
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley (or a handful fresh)
- 1 pinch marjoram (optional)
- 1 pinch herb salt and pepper
- 14-12 cup butter
- 1 vegetable bouillon cube (optional)
- 1 pinch nutmeg (optional)
Directions

1In a soup pot, place split peas with water and start cooking for about one half hour.

2Then add vegetables and cook 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until split peas dissolve.

3Add herb salt, pepper, and butter.

4Serve when butter is dissolved.

5If desired, sprinkle nutmeg on top.
