Split Pea Soup

Ingredients

  • 2 quarts soft water
  • 2 cups split peas
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • 1 large carrot, chopped
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 14 teaspoon ground thyme
  • 1 pinch on cayenne pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • salt and pepper

Directions

    Combine all ingredients in pot.

    Bring to boil.

    Boil hard for 20 minutes.

    Then simmer until peas are tender (at least 3 hours)

    Strain fine sieve or blend removing bay leaf.

    Then reheat to almost boiling.
