  • 1 (14 oz.) pkg. light caramels
  • 1/2 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
  • 1 c. pecan pieces
  • 3 Tbsp. soft butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 Tbsp. water or evaporated milk
  • 1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips

Directions

    Melt caramels and 1/2 cup evaporated milk over low heat. Watch carefully and stir often.

    Mix cake mix, nuts, butter or margarine, eggs and 3 tablespoons evaporated milk or water until moistened.

    Press half of the mixture in a 9 x 13-inch pan.

    Bake 6 minutes at 350°.

    Remove from oven.

    Pour melted caramels over; sprinkle with chocolate chips.

    Top with remaining cake mixture. Bake 15 to 20 minutes at 350°. Cut into squares when cool.
