- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 2 c. lukewarm water
- 1 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 3/4 Tbsp. shortening
- 7 to 8 c. flour
Directions

1Dissolve the yeast and sugar in the 1/2 cup lukewarm water. Make sure the yeast mixture gets foamy.

2Mix the 2 cups water, salt, sugar and shortening.

3Then add the yeast mixture and gradually the flour.

4Knead until smooth and elastic.

5Place in a greased bowl, cover and set in a warm place to rise until double. Punch down.

6Let rise again.

7Put in 2 large loaf pans or 3 medium ones.

8Let rise until double again.

9Bake at 350° for 1/2 hour.

10Makes 2 large or 3 medium loaves.
