- 1/4 c. warm water
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 5 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 1/3 c. sugar (mix 1 Tbsp. of this sugar with yeast mixture)
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. Crisco shortening
- 2 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Place together in bowl, warm water and yeast.

2Sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt.

3Cut into flour mixture the shortening.

4Stir in buttermilk.

5Next, mix in softened yeast mixture.

6Pour out on floured board.

7Turn over twice to flour both sides.

8Roll to 1/2-inch thickness and cut out desired size biscuits.

9Place in buttered baking pan and butter each biscuit on top if desired.

10Place in 425° oven for 10 to 12 minutes.

11This dough may be placed in refrigerator for use at a later time.
