  • 5 to 7 tart apples (5 c.)
  • 1 (9-inch) pastry shell
  • 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 6 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/3 c. sugar

Directions

    Pare and cut up apples and arrange in pie shell. Mix 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over apples. Mix 1/3 cup sugar with flour and cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over apples. Bake at 400° for 35 to 40 minutes or until done. If pie browns too quickly, cover edges with foil.
