Ingredients: 2 c. sifted flour; 2 Tbsp. cocoa; 3/4 tsp. salt; 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon; 1/4 tsp. ground cloves; 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg; 1/2 tsp. allspice; 1/2 tsp. baking soda; 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder; 1/2 c. soft shortening; 1 1/2 c. sugar; 2 eggs; 1 1/2 c. applesauce; 1 c. raisins or dates; 3/4 c. chopped walnuts

Grease and dust pan with flour.

Sift together flour, cocoa, salt, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, allspice, soda and baking powder.
