  • 1 can asparagus, drained
  • 1 can English peas, drained
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 4 slices bread
  • 1/4 lb. cheese, grated
  • 1 stick oleo
  • 1 can water chestnuts, drained
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

    Place asparagus in 1 1/2-quart baking dish.

    Mix peas with mushroom soup and spread over asparagus.

    Add salt and pepper, then add chopped water chestnuts and grated cheese.

    Cut bread into four finger-length pieces, coating each slice in melted oleo and arrange over top of casserole.

    Bake at 350° for 30 to 40 minutes until brown and bubbly.
